'Wonder' essay.

‘Wonder’ essay. First person.

Over the last week or two my class, Rimu have being reading the book ‘Wonder’ by R.J Palacio. Last week we wrote a short essay about it. I have used 3 examples from the book and from my own opinion. Here is my short essay, I hope you like it, enjoy and comment!



‘Wonder’ is a story about a boy who feels ordinary on the inside, but he is always reminded of how different he is by how people respond when they see him. This is R.J Palacio’s first novel and it is written in the first person.

At the start of the book ‘Wonder’, August is talking about him. I think that is first person because the book has “I” instead of him or he. For example, August says,

“I know I’m not an ordinary ten year-old-kid.”

August also in the first chapter of the book,

“My name is August, by the way. I won’t describe what I look like. What you are thinking is probably worse.”

Also in Chapter 2 It says 
“Next week I start fifth grade. Since I’ve never been to real school before, I am pretty much totally and completely petrified.”

Therefore, ‘Wonder’ is written in the first person.

My Mihimihi

In the first 2 weeks of Rimu class, we created visual Mihimihi that have 3 parts:

1.Self portrait of us or a photo.

2.Important stuff about us.

3.Things we like.

We also have created a video of us saying the Mihimihi, while showing you our art work of our Mihimihi. The thing I found challenging was the pronunciation.

2016!

Today has came! It was the first day of school again! This year is going to be great! Now and cool thing coming! can't wait to read your comments!

Wellington Camp 2015!

On the 23rd to the 27th Rimu class went to Wellington for one whole week ( Four nights five days).  On Monday we had to be at the train station by 6:30 really early! we wore on the train from Christchurch to  Picton. Then we went on the ferry, It was my first time on a boat and I got felt sick, so that means I am sea sick. We went to lots of really cool places like Te Papa, Lazer force,  the Theater , Museum, Capital E, rollerblading and rock climbing.Also heaps more! They were all so much fun! My favourite thing was rollerblading and laser forces. For dinner on Monday we had Pizza, Tuesday we had Mcdonalds, Wednesday we had Subway and Thursday we had 15 dollars to spend at the food corte I got a Wendy's hot dog and starbarks. My first time having starbucks it is so good! When we wore waiting to come home it was so windy our flit got canceled. We were supposed to come home at 12 something but we didn't get home till 6 something. It was a long wait! Genius Hour Project! Please comment!

I did my Genius hour project on cats because I love cats, also because I wanted to know where they came from. I wanted to know more about them. I created my presentation using Powtoon, and hope that you like it and enjoy! :}
